Update 20 June from Helen Allton

Dear all,

Good morning on this, the Summer Solstice and the longest day. So it’s all downhill from here! Let’s hope not on the ringing front.

Helen has asked that all those ringing for the NHS on 5 July notify her in advance.

The plans for St Peter’s Northampton and the adjacent Old Black Lion building make good reading and bring a note of optimism for the future of bellringing, and both on our doorstep.

Best wishes,

Helen’s text:

To Branch Chairs, Secretaries & treasurers, please circulate to members.

Hopefully you were able to make the most of summer, it seems to have been and gone again in the last fortnight!

Ringing for the NHS

Just a reminder as to this event on the 5th July and the encouragement for towers to ring or chime, as you are able. If you are planning on participating, please let us know in advance. https://cccbr.org.uk/2021/05/28/nhs-social-care-frontline-workers-day-5th-july-2021/

Guild News

The AGM was held on Saturday last week. There were a couple of officer changes, the details of holders can be found on the Guild website. https://www.pdg.org.uk/homepage/officers Thank you to those who did join and participate again.

There remains a vacancy for the new post of Safeguarding Officer. This is an administrative post, no specialist safeguarding knowledge is necessary. The role description is attached.

There was an agenda item relating to the plans for St Peter’s Northampton & the plans for the Old Black Lion building. You may have seen this referenced in an earlier blog by the Central Council president. The Guild has purchased a CO2 meter, this is held by the steward. If any tower wishes to borrow it, please get in touch with John: steward@pdg.org.uk

Hopefully the weather perks up a bit and reminds us that tomorrow is the first day of summer.
