Ringing at the Cathedral 27 January

Dear all, a final reminder that the Branch has been invited to ring for Evensong at the Cathedral on Sunday 27 January 2019.  This is a very enjoyable ring and a good opportunity for everyone to experience ringing on higher numbers of bells.

Please meet at 2pm near the shop inside the Cathedral. We will then ascend at 2.10pm, ready to ring from 2.20pm until 3.20pm. All are most welcome to join us.

Best wishes,

Hilary Hardie

Feedback Please – Response Requested

Prior to discussions at the upcoming Branch Committee Meeting – please could I ask for some feedback on Branch Activities:

In previous years we have run workshops on Striking and Ringing Up/Down.  If we were to put on some Workshops this year – what topics would you like to see covered?  (possible ideas: Bob Minor, Cambridge, Striking, Conducting, ?something else – do you have a better idea?)

The Castor once a month Branch Practice has recently struggled for support –  what do you like/dislike about this practice?  What sort of practice would you be interested in supporting? What stops you from coming?

I look forward to hearing from you,

James Thorpe

AGM thanks

Thankyou to everyone who attended the AGM yesterday and helped to make it a very successful event – this includes those who organised the very enjoyable ringing at St Mary’s and St John’s, the chefs for the super food ( especial thanks to Nick- what an excellent cook!) and all of you who helped serve the food and to the “Warmington washers” who got the kitchen cleared up afterwards in record time with the help of the amazingly efficient St John’s dishwasher (why hasn’t mine got a 3 minute cycle?)

It was good to see so many people yesterday. Once the new committee have met to ratify the Branch events for the year I  will post details here and hope that there will be something to please everyone this year and that you will be able support your Branch with the enthusiasm that was shown for events  in 2018.

It may be a while before I can get welcome packs to all the many new members who were elected yesterday, so if any of them ring with you please encourage them to  select “follow” on the petbells web site so that they receive posts.

Best wishes and happy ringing in 2019.

Sylvia

Bell Ringing on BBC

I have received the following message from the CCCBR:
We are excited to announce we have received confirmation from BBC that the Blue Peter episode, featuring bell ringing and clips from the RWNYC will be aired this Thursday, 10 January at 17:30GMT, CBBC channel.
The programme will be repeated and available on BBC iPlayer for some time after also.

Any requests to CCCBR from interested new learners will be handled in the usual way, but it might be worth making sure towers in your association are aware this is being broadcast and are primed for any direct requests.
sent by Louise Nightingale, Communications & Marketing Workgroup Lead.

8 Bell practice 4 January 2019 – cancelled

Dear all, I have cancelled the 8 bell practice on 4 January, as I don’t think there will be enough ringers to make it effective.  Also there are other Branch events in January, namely the AGM on 19 January, where there will be the opportunity to ring on 8 bells at both St Mary’s and St John’s in Peterborough, and ringing at the Cathedral on 27 January.

A very merry Christmas to everyone, and a Happy New Year of ringing.

Best wishes,

Hilary

Guild Ten Bell Practice

The next Guild ten bell practice will be on DECEMBER 29th from 10.30 -12.30 at MOULTON NN3 7SP

Aiming to ring Bristol S Royal and Littleport Little S Royal

Sounds like a break from being “festive” for all the ten bell ringers out there!

Happy Christmas everyone, Happy New Year and see you in January…

( at the AGM January 19th – don’t forget to let me know if you are coming to that)
