Ringing at the Cathedral June 10 – cancelled

Unfortunately the proposed ringing at the Cathedral for Evensong on 10 June has had to be cancelled.  There will be 900 fairies dancing in the precincts and there needs to be loud speaker communication for this World Record Attempt for the Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Fairies in One Place.

I will let you know when an alternative date is agreed.

WordPress Usernames

Since the new PetNet went live six weeks ago I have received occasional reports of confusion caused by the difficulty of identifying the author of some of the posts.  This is because, by default, WordPress gives only the Username of the author and some of you have some intriguing Usernames that are not easily associated with the person we know and love.

There are two possible solutions to this problem:

1.  Sign in and then go to: https://wordpress.com/me  Change the entry labelled ‘Public Display Name’ from your Username (the default setting) to your actual name. This is the preferred action.

2. If you do not wish to make the above change, for whatever reason, please be sure to sign each and every post with your full name.

With my grateful thanks for your co-operation.

Ringing at the Cathedral on June 10

The Branch has been invited to ring for Evensong at the Cathedral on Sunday 10 June.  This is a very good opportunity for everyone to experience ringing on higher numbers of bells.

Please meet at 2pm near the shop inside the Cathedral. We will then ascend at 2.10pm, ready to ring from 2.20pm until 3.20pm. All are most welcome to join us.

Wedding at Wittering next Saturday (19th May) – one more ringer required

Dear all,

Further to my previous message, we are still one short to make a band of six for the wedding at Wittering next Saturday. It is a 12pm wedding with ringing both before and afterwards, Ringers to turn up at 11:35am. Bells need raising and lowering. Payment is £20 per rope (£15 if only after).

If you have been holding back to give others a chance to get in there first, please do not hold back any longer – we need a sixth ringer. This will only be rounds and call changes, nothing too taxing, and the bells are not heavy. If you are only able to ring afterwards, that might well be possible. Please let me know if you can help us out.

Those who have already responded, yes please, we do need you and a confirmation email will follow once the band is complete.

Regards

Nick Elks

Dear all,

There is a wedding at Wittering on Saturday 19th May and six ringers are required.

The wedding is scheduled to start at 12pm and ringing is required both before and after. Aim to turn up at 11:35am to ring the bells up and ring for the bride’s arrival. The service is expected to finish, all being well, at 12:35pm. Ringing afterwards plus ring the bells down.

Payment is £20 per rope

Hopefully all who respond will be able to do both before and after. but it may be possible to just ring afterwards so long as someone is able to ring the bells up beforehand.

Please let me know if you are able to ring.
